Tinsley Poverty Strategy
We are committed to working with our local community.
Tinsley Meadows Primary Academy is committed to working with other schools across Sheffield to reduce financial hardship and the impact of poverty upon children.
We achieve this by;
- providing hampers of food upon request, you can request as many as you like
- making available good quality second hand school uniform and coats
- providing a child’s first PE t-shirt
- running free summer holidays activities, where breakfast and lunch is provided for all students involved
- running a free breakfast club to all students
- sharing left over milk, fruit and vegetables at the end of the week with families
- supporting with referrals to outside organisations who can provide further financial support/support with sourcing household goods
- organising ‘Flog it Friday’ where parents can buy good quality second hand items for a reasonable price.
- developing a family feast event
(families will be invited to join staff and community partners to eat a meal, produced at low cost and will include a recipe card to encourage parent/carers to have a go and recreating this at home)
Tinsley Tummies
Tinsley Tummies, our school’s food bank, grew out of the increased need for families during the COVID-19 pandemic. Families who request it, can receive regular food parcels. There is no limit to how many times a family can request this support.
